DITA Technologist / Technical Publications XML Developer

The Global Product Labelling team, who develop User Assistance for innovate cancer-fighting solutions, are pioneering a Digital Transformation strategy. We are looking for a DITA Technologist to maintain the technology of our DITA XML Content Management System to meet the specifications provided by the Information Architect, and to play an itegral role in transitioning Varian’s User Assistance to meet the future demands of Digital Tranformation.
Coordinate with the Information Architect, Authoring and Localization teams to identify future needs and requirements
Provide technical subject matter expertise to support Digital Transformation
Maintain the publishing system, tools automation, source control system
Develop and test stylesheets and transforms
Configure, extend and customize the DITA Open Toolkit
Improve system performance by conducting tests, troubleshooting and integrating new elements
Provide operational support for the Information Architect and CMS Admins team
Bachelors or Masters or in computer science or related field
Source control systems, e.g. Apache Subversion (SVN)
Citrix and Windows Server 2012
Good understanding of DITA XML, structured content, and Component Content Management Systems
Knowledge of IXIASOFT DITA CMS would be an advantage as well as knowledge of localization processes in a DITA CMS environment
Experience of gathering and analyzing system requirements
Skills in negotiating with vendors and leading external development projects
Mastery in English and knowledge of at least one second language advantageous

In addition, you can clearly express and present your ideas, and describe complex or technical issues in easy to understand terms, to support and motivate diverse teams. You are used to working independently, but also open to discussing ideas and solutions with your colleagues.
