(Senior) Software Engineer – Digital Banking (Front-End Focus)
Overview of Role
We are seeking a talented and experienced (Senior) Software Engineer to help shape and advance our digital banking offering. Although our solution is underpinned by the Avaloq platform, we retain substantial autonomy in customising and extending its functionality — particularly on the front end.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing user-centric features, collaborating with cross-functional teams and integrating with third-party services. You will also have the opportunity to influence architectural decisions, contribute to DevOps practices, and play a key role in evolving our client-facing digital experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate product vision into high-quality, user-focused front-end applications
- Design, develop, and integrate new features and enhancements into existing systems
- Collaborate closely with the Digital Product Owner to continuously refine and improve the solution
- Drive the creation of technical specifications and component designs in close partnership with the IT Digital Banking Application Manager, ensuring scalable, maintainable architecture
- Estimate effort and assess technical complexity of new features and user stories
- Contribute to third-level support activities and carry out relevant configuration tasks as required
- Engage with third-party vendors, particularly Avaloq, to validate, test, and integrate external components and bug fixes
- Produce clear and comprehensive technical documentation and contribute to overall architectural design
Required Skills, Experience and Competencies
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum of five years' hands-on experience in software engineering, with a strong emphasis on front-end development (preferably using Angular or a comparable modern JavaScript framework)
- Previous experience within banking, financial services or wealth management
- Proficient in HTML, CSS/Sass, and responsive UI design
- Experience working with RESTful APIs and JSON-based data structures
- Solid understanding of web and mobile front-end technologies and customer-facing application design
- Familiarity with the Avaloq ecosystem, particularly the Avaloq Front Platform (AFP) and Avaloq Mobile App is highly desirable
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams, while adopting a proactive and structured approach to problem-solving
- Self-driven and adaptable, demonstrating independence in work while maintaining alignment with team goals and fostering a cohesive, team-oriented environment
- Fluency in English is essential; German language skills would be an advantage
